Tips to get your through the tax season
Tax Time is just around the corner
Here are some tips to help you get through tax season.
- Be sure to test your tax forms/merge files well in advance of your deadline.
- If you need changes made to your form file be aware that there is a 6-8 week turnaround time for such modifications.
- If you create your tax documents through the merge file option, be sure you have updated your document file to include current information, like the current tax year. Note that Best Software can provide you with a txltmain.doc for use with the tax document process. You can edit the text of this document, but if you need to change the merge fields you must have expertise in MS Word merge functionality. Best Software cannot provide MS Word support.
- The printing or merging of tax documents requires a large amount of system resources. It is recommended that you run only GT Pro/Rainbow and, if applicable, your word processor, while running these forms.
- Because of the large volume of forms that are typically generated through this process, you may want to consider breaking the processing into smaller runs. One commonly used method for reducing the size of each run is to create groups based on the first letter of a constituent’s last name. You can select these constituents with an expression like the following: Constituent Last is between A* and F*.
