Saving Ad Hocs and Groups Externally

If you frequently rely on running specific ad hocs or groups, you may wish to transfer them out for safe keeping in case they are accidentally deleted.

As a safeguard, you can create a folder either on your network drive or your local drive. Select the ad hoc or group and use the Transfer Out icon in Ad Hoc Manager or Group Manager. You then choose the “Save as file” option, saving the ad hoc or group to this specific location. You may also place a description of the criteria or sources and fields used in the group or ad hoc in the transfer message window.

In addition, you can rename each report that has a .trf extension. Open Windows Explorer, locate the drive you saved the ad hocs or groups to, highlight the .trf file and right-click. Choose the Rename option from the menu and rename the .trf file to identify the purpose of the ad hoc report or group.
